Pulp Industry

Pulp

The pulp and paper industry comprises companies that use wood as raw material and produce pulp, paper, paperboard and other cellulose-based products. The fiber length of the cellulose fiber is the most important parameter of the pulpwood and determines what it may be used for. The first separation is into softwood and hardwood, which have long and short fibers respectively. In paper production fiber from softwood give tensile strength and fibers from hardwood give opacity.

Eucalyptus as pulp-wood

Eucalyptus species are tolerant to severe moisture stress, low soil fertility as well as attack by fire and insects. Eucalyptus is very productive because it grows quickly and thrives in short rotation plantations. This makes it ideal for the production of fiber for pulp and paper. Commercial production of eucalyptus began in Victoria, Australia in 1860 and spread quickly.
EHL imports a special eucalyptus hybrid, and through extensive research and testing, has finally reached levels of significant plant’s growth within 2-3 years and with minimum water needs.
