Eucalyptus Oils

Eucalyptus Oils

Essential Oil produced from eucalyptus, also called Eucalyptol or eucalyptus Oil, is a fraction of eucalyptus leaves distillation, which is used widely to Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Industry. Eucalyptol shares with eugenol the rare distinction of being one of two large-volume aroma chemicals whose supply is totally natural. Depending on the Oil’s purity, the eucalyptus origin and the distillation method, the extracted Oil includes a huge variety of applications, such as:

• Flavoring and fragrance
• Medicinal
• Insecticide and insect repellent

Bio-chemicals. Eucalyptus Oil produced by fractioning distillation is enriched to the substance named Cineole. “1,8 Cineole” (CAS # 470-82-6) is the substance that gives Eucalyptus Oil the above characteristics. High-cineole eucalyptus oils are used to Pharmacopeia, while lower purity fractions are used to Cosmetics and Pastry. Cineole fractions are also used for creating specific chemical compounds as well as bio-chemicals as fuel additives.

Oils Production in Greece

EHL, in cooperation with Easy2Find Group, proceeded in research and pilot development of eucalyptus distillation units, since 4 years ago. The purpose was to achieve the optimum productivity and quality rates, making the Oil suitable for Pharmaceutical markets. Moreover, technical staff of EHL investigated the ways that the productive procedure will be energy effective, using Renewable Energy Sources, driving the operation to a cost reduction pathway. Company will have the first commercial production – estimated to over 200.000 liters of Oil – in Sep 2017.
